Brownsea island

Last year at the end of the summer holidays, we all went as a family to brownsea island in poole. it was great to get to know information about the first scout settlement set up by Robert Baden Powel. the weather was great on the day and we walked around the whole island. there is lots of wildlife on the island and also lots of evidence that there was a recent landslide on the west of the island as there was trees and rocks strewn all over the beach.

here are some pics...

This is the hotel on Brownsea island which is owned by john lewis and used by them as a lottery for their staff where the winner gets a complementary stay paid for by John Lewis.

This side of the island is where the landslide had recently occurred, further back there were trees all over the beach that were still green so had fallen recently.

The view of brownsea from the boat on the way back to poole.

This picture shows just how different the depth of the water is around brownsea, on the other side of the island it was only 1ft deep whereas here its over 20ft deep, this just shows how dangerous Poole harbour can be to an inexperienced skipper.
